Retrofitting — Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a retrofit cost?
My dynamometer isn’t Acquati-branded. Can you still work on it?
How long does a dynamometer retrofit take?
Lead time varies with the complexity of the upgrade, component availability and the level of customisation. On average, a full retrofit takes 1–3 weeks. We always include instrument testing and plan downtime to be as short and predictable as possible. For urgent cases or specific production needs, we can offer flexible options to minimise downtime.
Which components are upgraded during a retrofit?
Every retrofit project is tailored to the instrument’s condition and to the customer’s goals. In general, upgrades include:
- replacement of the control panel with a touch-screen HMI
- management/data software update
- replacement of load cells and internal sensing/electronic circuits
- new communication interfaces (e.g., RS232, Ethernet, USB)
- calibration and optimisation of measurement performance
- safety upgrades and protection devices
Thanks to the upgrade, the instrument can achieve efficiency, stability and accuracy levels comparable to those of a new machine.
