Short Span Compression Tester
Reference Sectors: Paper, Corrugated Board & Boxes
What it is and what it's used for
The Short Span Compression Tester measures the compression strength of paper over a short span (SCT). It is compact, precise, and easy to use, ideal for laboratory and quality control in production. It allows for quick and repeatable tests in both MD and CD, with immediate batch and sample height setup (standard 15 mm).
- Applicable to papers and boards with a wide range of basis weights
- Quick test change with guided settings (batch, direction, height)
- Stable and comparable results for R&D and batch control
Measurement performance and mechanical specifications
Designed to ensure alignment and repeatability, the system uses self-leveling clamps and controlled jaw distance. Data acquisition is high-resolution, with automatic calculation of indices at the end of the test.
- Load cell up to 1000 N, resolution 0.01 N
- Clamping force: 2300 ± 500 N
- Jaw distance: 0.7 ± 0.05 mm; stroke: 0.5 mm
- Speed: 3 ± 0.5 mm/min
- Self-leveling clamps for uniform and repeatable grip
Interface, connectivity, and data integration
Designed for integration into corporate digital workflows, the tester offers an immediate interface and export options for result traceability.
- Touchscreen with intuitive menus and test templates
- Connectivity: USB, RS-232/RS-485, MicroSD
- Data export in tabular formats (e.g., Excel/CSV)
- Automatic calculation of compression strength and coefficient of variation
- Applicable to all sectors: paper, packaging, printing, converting
